The OSCE Programme Office will support a roundtable discussion on improving public participation in environmental decision-making through Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) mechanisms.
The event will be conducted by the Eastern Kazakhstan Aarhus Centre for some 40 representatives of government, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, academia and expert communities. It will focus on the environmental footprint and social responsibility of extractive companies in the Eastern Kazakhstan region and explore ways of using EITI mechanisms to build an effective dialogue among all stakeholders.
The event is part of the Programme Office’s multi-year efforts to advance international standards of the Aarhus Convention in the host country.
