The roundtable discussion will focus on certain aspects of implementation of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On religious activities and religious associations”, including missionary activities, status of unregistered religious groups, law-enforcement bodies’ actions in pursuance of administrative and criminal legislation regulating the freedom of religion or belief sphere. Participants will also exchange views on legal status of religious communities and small religious groups, the autonomy of religious communities, the relationship between religious groups and the state, and fulfilment of the state’s international obligations in the area of freedom of religion. The event will be attended by the state officials, local authorities, religious scholars and experts, as well as representatives of non-governmental and religious organizations.
