(OSCE/Gayane Ter-Stepanyan)GORIS, Armenia, 16 October 2009 - An arts and craft fair featuring works produced by women from the Syunik region, organized by the Goris Women Resource Centre with support of the OSCE Office in Yerevan, will be held in the southern Armenian town of Goris tomorrow.
The Zangezur fair features works characteristic to the historical regions of Zangezur and Syunik. It also offers local food and tours to historical sights in Goris.
The fair aims to enhance female entrepreneurs' business and professional skills and to support them as they pursue careers in various spheres, including tourism.
"This event is a good networking opportunity for the region's women. We hope it will stimulate co-operation among them and help them gain success in public and economic life," said Ambassador Sergey Kapinos, the Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan. "We also hope it will promote the region's development."
The OSCE Office in Yerevan supports women resource centres in Goris and two other Syunik towns - Meghri and Kapan - as part of work to support women's economic empowerment and democratic development in the remote region.
The fair will be held on Saturday, 17 October, from 12:00-18:00 at Hotel Mirhav, Goris, Syunik region. Journalists are invited to cover the event.
