The Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan is Ambassador Andrey Sorokin, who took up his post on 10 January 2012.
Ambassador Sorokin was born in Moscow in 1950. He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Foreign Languages in 1976.
He has held a number of diplomatic posts in India, among them attaché at the USSR Consulate General in Madras (1984-1988), Consul at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Calcutta (1991-1998), Counsellor (culture and science) of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India (1998- 2003).
He was Director, Department for Cultural Relations and UNESCO, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation from 2003-2005.
His most recent post before moving to head the OSCE Office in Yerevan was Minister Counsellor, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of the Russian Federation in India, which he held from 2005-2011.
Ambassador Sorokin is married with one son.
