OSCE Office in Yerevan
Youth
The Office in Yerevan's youth programme supports participation in democratic processes by young people, encouraging them to be active citizens in line with OSCE principles and commitments, which it promotes through regular presentations to university students.
In 2007, the Office financed a project to strengthen the involvement of young people from Armenia's regions in discussions on draft legislation on education and higher education. With the Office's support, a young leaders' summer school with a special focus on young women was organized in Kapan, in the southern province of Syunik, by a local non-governmental organization. In August 2007, the OSCE Programme Implementation Presence in Syunik and UNESCO Armenia also organized a two-week summer camp in Kapan for disabled youth, children from orphanages and vulnerable groups from all over Armenia.
In 2008, the Office plans to concentrate on increasing youth involvement in democratic processes through the media, and on strengthening efficiency and transparency in local governance activities through participation by young people, especially women.
