Senior Police Adviser

The OSCE's Senior Police Adviser is Kevin Carty from Ireland, who took up his post in February 2006. He is seconded to the OSCE by the Irish Government.

Mr. Carty can look back on a distinguished career in the Irish Police Force, which culminated in his appointment as Police Commissioner of the Dublin Metropolitan Area and City.

He also gained extensive international experience working with the European Union and the United Nations. Most recently, he headed the European Union Police Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Prior to this, he was special adviser to the Independent Panel on the Safety and Security of UN Personnel in Iraq and a member of the Security in Iraq Accountability Panel.
