On the occasion of International Roma Day on 8 April 2011, the OSCE Mission to Skopje supported the NGO Ambrela-Centre for Integration of Romani Population in its efforts to promote a cleaner environment for the Roma community of Shuto Orizari municipality in Skopje.
The initiative encouraged residents to help clean up their surroundings, complementing the municipal efforts for a clean and healthy living environment. Schoolchildren joined in by cleaning the stadium, kindergarten and clinic.
In line with the Action Plan on Improving the Situation of Roma and Sinti within the OSCE Area, this project is also paying attention to the health of Roma children through provision of information on vaccinations in Roma settlements.
