Ambassador Ralf Breth of Germany was appointed as the Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje on 16 May 2011.
Ambassador Breth has served 29 years in the German Foreign Office as a career diplomat. He has considerable regional experience in the Western Balkans. He previously served for three years in Skopje as Head of the German Embassy (2005-2008) and was representative of the Presidency of the European Union during the German and Finnish presidencies.
With a solid experience in multilateral co-operation and profound knowledge of bilateral and multilateral approaches to strengthening democratic institutions, he has successfully led large teams both in the German Foreign Office and abroad.
Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Breth served as Head of Division International Criminal Law in the German Foreign Office. He has also been head of three German Missions (Skopje, Izmir, Sibiu).
Ambassador Breth graduated in law at the University of Frankfurt/Main and completed the diplomatic academy at the German Foreign Office in Bonn, Germany.
His working languages are English and German and in addition he is fluent in Spanish, French, Italian and Romanian.
