OSCE Mission to Skopje donates equipment to Forestry Police
The OSCE Mission to Skopje donated furniture and IT equipment to the Forestry Police on 22 January 2015 in Skopje. The aim is to strengthen its capacities in dealing with security-related incidents and fighting organized forestry crime.
The donated equipment will be used to train some 360 forestry police officers on issues related to their duty at the newly-established training centres in Stip, Kicevo, Skopje, Veles and Strumica, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The Forestry police is also tasked to combat illegal logging, which is frequently performed by organised groups operating in remote areas, including border zone, posing a threat to the environment and negatively affecting the living conditions of rural communities in the country.
