BELGRADE, 14 May 2008 - An updated version of a guide on how to improve gender equality, supported by the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the Serbian Government's Council for Gender Equality, will be launched in Nis on Thursday.

The book, "Implementation of Gender Equality and Equal Opportunity - from Idea to Practice", will be presented by the OSCE Mission to Serbia Gender Adviser Zorica Mrsevic, Nis University Law Faculty Dean Nevena Petrusic and the representative of the Serbian Government's Council for Gender Equality, Dragana Petrovic.

Representatives of the Nis city commission for gender equality, the city's shelter for women and children victims of violence, medical care institutions, the Nis University Law clinic and non-governmental organizations are expected to take part in the launch.

The handbook, co-produced by the OSCE Mission and the Serbian Council for Gender Equality, compiles texts used in education for municipal gender focal points organized by the OSCE Mission from 2002 to 2006. It will be used in future training courses for gender focal points.

Journalists are invited to attend the book launch at 12:00 on Thursday, 15 May, at the Nis University Faculty of Law, Conference room, First floor, Trg Kralja Aleksandra 11.
