OSCE Mission to Serbia supports workshop to improve media reporting on security sector

BELGRADE, 25 June 2009 - A workshop for Serbian journalists on security matters, aiming to help the participants improve their reporting, started today in Belgrade.

The two-day event, organized by the OSCE Mission to Serbia with support of the UK government, brings together journalists and press officers from security institutions to help them better understand each other's daily work.

"This workshop is part of the OSCE Mission's support for security sector reform," said Daiana Falloni, the Head of the Democratisation Department at the OSCE Mission to Serbia. "Public support is crucial for the continued success of these reforms, and one way to try to ensure that is to keep citizens well-informed."

Thirteen journalists and four press officers from the Defence Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the War Crimes Prosecutor's Office and the Security Information Agency took part in a discussion.
