VIENNA, 1 September 2010 - Ambassador Lydia Imanalieva, the Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic to the OSCE, and Ambassador Herbert Salber, the Head of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre, will brief journalists about the OSCE Police Advisory Group for Kyrgyzstan and current political situation in the country, on Thursday, 2 September.
The briefing will take place after the consideration of the situation in Kyrgyzstan by the OSCE Permanent Council. The item will be considered in the beginning of the Council's meeting.
On 22 July the OSCE Permanent Council decided to deploy a Police Advisory Group to Kyrgyzstan, upon the request of the country, to assist in reducing inter-ethnic tensions and strengthening the capacities of the territorial units of the Ministry of the Interior of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Journalists are invited to the briefing by 10:30 on Thursday, 2 September, to the room 201 of the Hofburg Congress Centre.
For admittance to the Hofburg Congress Centre, please bring your OSCE press badge or a valid press card to the security desk (main entrance from the Heldenplatz). Parking is available for the press during the event in the OSCE-reserved parking area on Heldenplatz. Temporary parking permits must be collected from the security desk.
