The high-level panel discussion on The Use of Evaluation in Evidence-Based Policy Making - “Accountability and Learning: Getting to Results and Impact” will focus on how to bridge the gap between the policy makers and the evaluation community and ensure the use of the highest quality, equity-focused and gender-responsive evaluations. It will further focus on how evaluation can be used to support program improvement and learning, assess impact, and demonstrate results.
The panel will provide a forum for key stakeholders to discuss the role of evaluation in supporting effective programme planning and implementation, assessing results and impact, and informing better decision-making and public policy. The aim of the panel is to promote evaluation and deepen the understanding of its important role in evidence-based decision making.
For the event speakers see the concept note here.
The event is part of an initiative on acknowledging the importance of the evaluation, the resolution on which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. This resolution endorsed 2015 as the International Year of Evaluation (EvalYear).
The panel is co-organized by CTBTO, IAEA, OSCE, UNIDO, UNODC and the UN Evaluation Group, in collaboration with the Austrian Development Cooperation.
