Gender equality

The Gender Section helps advance gender equality within the Organization primarily by assisting staff in implementing the 2004 OSCE Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality. It prepares an annual report that reviews the Organization's implementation of the Action Plan.

The Action Plan aims to promote gender equality, incorporate a gender perspective into all activities and ensure responsibility for achieving gender balance in the staff representation and a professional working environment where women and men are treated equally.

To achieve these aims, the Section works closely with gender focal points in all OSCE field operations and institutions. It also co-operates with other international organizations, such as the United Nations.
