It finally brings to the attention of policy makers in the OSCE area essential data and recommendations for boosting gender-responsive policies in natural resources and women’s access.

The OSCE invites you to apply for the third edition of the EmPOWER Local Women Politicians Programme. If you are an elected woman leader working at the local level and/or woman activist involved in local policy and decision-making processes related to gender equality and women empowerment, and if you are looking to advance your career and most importantly, be an agent of change – this programme is for you. The seven-month long programme, from May to November, consists of compulsory workshops and training sessions. Thirty successful applicants who meet the qualification criteria will be selected to participate. Please send your application by 15 March 2024 (23:59).

The publication “Twenty years of parliamentary gender equality mechanisms in Serbia” was developed in 2023 on the occasion of the 20-year anniversary of the establishment of the National Assembly (NA) Committee for Gender Equality, as well as the 20-year anniversary of the establishment of the gender equality mechanism in the Parliament of Vojvodina. It provides a detailed review of the status of the parliamentary gender equality mechanisms at national and provincial level, focusing on the role and effectiveness of the Committee for Gender Equality and includes recommendations for improvements of both mechanisms, such as measures to increase the representation and participation of women in parliament and its committees, and ways to enhance the effectiveness of the Committee. By highlighting the achievements and challenges of the mechanism, the publication serves as a valuable resource for members of the NA Committee for Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality, but also all MPs, authorities at state and local level, civil sector, general public and researchers. The publication is available in Serbian and in English.

Advancing a Just Energy Transition in Central Asia: Women’s Key Role in the Energy Sector

The OSCE study on “Advancing a Just Energy Transition in Central Asia – Women’s key role in the energy sector” analyzes – through a gender lens – the socio-economic benefits of the energy transition for the five OSCE participating States in the region. It provides specific considerations for the strategic development of an appropriately skilled labour force and also contains critical yet unpublished data on the job creation potential of renewable energy in each Central Asian country. The study closes with recommendations intended to help Central Asian governments, companies, academic institutions, civil society, and other relevant stakeholders ensure that the transition to renewable energy harnesses the full potential of women’s participation and leadership and leaves no one behind. The study was developed in partnership with the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET), and with contributions from experts at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

This report has been prepared with two primary objectives. The first is to examine how the media in Montenegro report on gender-based violence (GBV) through the analysis of a sample of 2,661 media reports and to what extent they adhere to the principles of journalistic professionalism and ethical reporting. The second objective is to employ an innovative experimental method to assess the extent and nature of the influence that media reporting on this subject exerts on citizens’ attitudes, opinions, and subsequent behaviour.
