The manual was prepared with the support of the OSCE Office in Yerevan on the basis of the Handbook on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of the Personnel of the Armed Forces" published by the OSCE ODIHR and the Geneva Centre for Democratic Control of the Armed Forces (DCAF). It aims to raise awareness about human rights and fundamental freedoms among army staff. It is available only in Armenian.

The publication is a collection of articles on the OSCE Code of Conduct on Politico-Military Aspects of Security, introducing its history, and Armenia's and international experience in the implementation of the Code, and its practical recommendations. The volume was prepared by a group of experts from Drastamat Kanayan Institute for National Strategic Studies under the Armenian Ministry of Defence and a number of other bodies with the support of the OSCE Office in Yerevan.
