The OSCE helps its participating States to effectively manage hazardous waste and chemicals and to minimize the serious security risks that they pose.

These quick reference cards are intended for use in daily professional activities of customs and border officers, environmental agencies to help detect and prevent smuggling of the species and derivatives under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). They have been developed within the framework of the OCEEA project Prevention of illegal cross-border transport of hazardous waste and other cross-border environmental crimes.
