The OSCE Programme Office and the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic will hold the International Conference on Advancing National Interests of Kyrgyzstan through Improving Security Sector Governance and Reform: Mapping Top Challenges and Key Priorities.
The event will bring together some 80 participants including parliamentarians, government officials in the Security Sector, international and national experts, academic field representatives, civil society and young researchers.
The main objective of the conference is the creation of national ownership based on the ideas generated by civil society and academia experts. The conference will focus on discussion of current top security challenges, identifying key priorities for strengthening the ability of the Security Sector agencies to effectively address these challenges and proposing solutions on how to tackle them. The event will serve as a dialogue platform to exchange experience and knowledge in the Security Sector Governance and Reform as well as provide an opportunity for networking and cooperation among national and international experts and civil society.
The expected result of the event is that a set recommendations and proposals will be developed and shared with interested actors and stakeholders in Kyrgyzstan through a final publication.
The conference is part the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek's project on Strengthening Democratic Governance and Security Sector Reform in Kyrgyzstan.
