An OSCE-supported roundtable discussion on the development of legislation and law enforcement practice in the field of religious activity will bring together representatives of different religious communities of Kazakhstan, state officials, law enforcement bodies, academia, religious and human rights NGOs. They will discuss the current religious legislation in the country, its enforcement practices and possible improvements. Participants will also exchange views on the legal status of religious communities and small religious groups, the relationship between religious groups and the state, the fulfilment of the state’s international obligations in the area of freedom of religion. A separate session of the roundtable will be dedicated to preventing religious extremism and radicalization.
