The Central Asian Youth Network (CAYN) seminar is an annual event organized to inspire and educate local youth on issues relating to the OSCE concept of security and how it applies to Central Asia.
International experts will speak at the event and lead interactive discussions to help guide and develop the young community of inquisitive, open-minded, critical thinkers. CAYN events are intended to have a regional focus and the annual gathering is a showcase of talent, innovation and topics specifically selected to inspire young adults to explore and address contemporary security issues.
In 2017, the theme of the seminar will be “The Energy of Youth.” It will introduce young leaders to the technology and policy related to promoting renewable energy, combating climate change and promoting sustainability. Other topics will include promoting gender mainstreaming, engaging young people to help fight radicalization and violent extremism and using social media to promote positive change.
The students will twice visit the venue of Expo 2017: Future Energy, so as to explore the pavilions and booths of 115 countries and 22 international organizations, as well as to meet with a delegation of American Student Ambassadors for a cross-cultural activity.
This seminar is part of the OSCE’s efforts to enhance young people’s understanding of contemporary security threats and to explain the OSCE’s role in responding to them.
