Permanent Council

Chairmanship

Ambassador Antti Turunen, Head of the Permanent Mission of Finland to the OSCE, is Chairman of the OSCE Permanent Council in 2008.

The Chairman is responsible for setting the agenda and organizing the work of the OSCE Permanent Council. The Chairman also organizes informal meetings of representatives of the participating States in order to facilitate the discussion and negotiations of decisions, statements and documents that are then formally adopted by the appropriate decision-making body.

The Chairmanship of the Permanent Council changes yearly, together with the OSCE Chairmanship. In 2008, Finland holds the OSCE Chairmanship.
