The 2016 Austrian Chairmanship of the OSCE Mediterranean Contact Group will host a discussion on the importance and role of dialogue and religion in preventing violent extremism.
Presenters:
- Father Nabil Haddad, Executive Director of the Jordanian Interfaith Coexistence Research Center.
- Dr. Kamal Boraiqa Abdelsalam Hassan, Professor of the Islamic Studies, Faculty of Languages and Translation, Al Azhar University, Egypt.
- Mohand Ouadir Mechnan, Director for religious and educational affairs, Algerian Ministry of Religion.
- Elif Medeni, Representative of the Islamic Faith Community in Austria.
The Contact Group with the Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation was established within the framework of the OSCE Permanent Council. It is an informal group that meets periodically "to facilitate the interchange of information and the generation of ideas".
