Human Rights Defenders and National Human Rights Institutions

This Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting on Human Rights Defenders and National Human Rights Institutions: Legislative, State and Non-State Aspects reviewed the role of human rights defenders and national human rights institutions in the protection and promotion of human rights, as well as examining which legislative, state and non-state aspects influence their status and operation. The meeting also sought to identify which of these aspects could be used as best practices in the OSCE region.

The conference was jointly organized by the OSCE Chairman-in-Office and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
