Following an invitation from Hungary's Foreign Minister, ODIHR deployed an election assessment mission on 28 March to assess the parliamentary elections on 11 April.

In response to an inviation from the government of Hungary invited, ODIHR deployed an election observation mission on 12 March to observe the parliamentary elections on 7 and 21 April 2002.
