General Elections, 3 October 2010
Following an invitation from the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina and following a needs assessment mission carried out from 30 June to 2 July 2010, ODIHR deployed an election observation mission on 26 August for the 3 October general elections.
Municipal Elections, 5 October 2008
Following an invitation from the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to observe the 2008 municipal elections, ODIHR undertook a Needs Assessment Mission (NAM). Although the NAM’s interlocutors expressed the view that international observation could provide a valuable contribution, they also demonstrated a broad confidence in the electoral process. Therefore, given budgetary constraints, the OSCE/ODIHR did not deploy a standard election observation mission.
General Elections, 1 October 2006
Following an invitation from the Foreign Ministry of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ODIHR deployed an election observation mission on 25 August to observe the general elections on 1 October.
Municipal Elections, 2 October 2004
In response to an invitation from the Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ODIHR deployed an election observation mission on 30 August to observe the municipal elections on 2 October.
General Elections, 5 October 2002
ODIHR deployed an election observation mission to observe the general elections on 5 October in response to an invitation from the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
General Elections, 12-13 September 1998
In accordance with Article 8.5 of the 1998 Provisional Election Commission Rules and Regulations, the OSCE/ODIHR established an Observation Mission on 23 July 1998 ahead of the General elections on 12-13 September.
National Assembly Election, 22-23 November 1997
In accordance with Article III, 2. (e) of Annex 3 of the General Framework Agreement for Peace (the Dayton Agreement), the OSCE/ODIHR continued its observation role and extended the presence of its already established Election Observation Mission for the Municipal Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina to include the observation of the Republika Srpska National Assembly Election.
Municipal Elections, 13-14 September 1997
In accordance with Article III, 2. (e) of Annex 3 of the General Framework Agreement for Peace (the Dayton Agreement), the OSCE/ODIHR established an Election Observation Mission in May, to assess the Municipal Elections on 13-14 September in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
General Elections, 14 September 1996
In accordance with Article III, 2, (e) of Annex 3 of the General Framework Agreement for Peace (the Dayton agreement), and based on the decisions taken by the OSCE Ministerial Council in Budapest on December 7-8, 1995, Mr. Eduard van Thijn of the Netherlands was appointed Co-ordinator for International Monitoring (CIM) of the elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Almost one thousand international observers provided a broad presence throughout the country on election day.
