During this two-day workshop, civil society representatives from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden will receive training on how to recognize hate crimes against Muslims and what civil society organizations can do in order to combat this phenomenon.
While the responsibility to combat hate crimes lies primarily on the shoulders of public authorities, civil society can play an important role in guiding governments to enhance their relevant policies and strategies. This is especially crucial to address under-reporting and under-recording of hate crimes against certain communities, due to lack of confidence in governmental officials.
The training aims to increase the capacities of civil society organizations to monitor hate crimes against Muslims and combat these violent acts of intolerance in close co-operation with other community organizations and law enforcement officials.
