PODGORICA, 26 April 2012 – A campaign on reforestation will be launched in the Podgorica area of Toloska šuma tomorrow by the OSCE-supported School of Ecological Activism.
The campaign brings together representatives of the international community, local authorities and civil society to work together to make up for the loss of more than 6,000 trees in the area of the capital, Podgorica, due to severe winter storms. In order to promote the campaign of the School of Ecological Activism called “Every Action Counts”, the Mission has donated 80 saplings to the Municipality of Podgorica.
This campaign and similar activities will be officially announced by the Head of the OSCE Mission, Ambassador Šarunas Adomavičius, the US Ambassador to Montenegro, Sue K. Brown, and the Mayor of Podgorica, Miomir Mugoša.
The saplings in Tološka šuma will be planted by volunteer participants of the School of Ecological Activism and by staff of the OSCE Mission, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Association of Scouts of Montenegro, the Environmental Movement Ozone, the Twitter Community and the Environmental Club of the Secondary Economic-Hospitality School, Nikšić.
Journalists are invited to cover the event, which is scheduled to start at 11.00 on Friday, 27 April 2012, in Toloska šuma, in Podgorica.
