Regional conference for Aarhus Centres representatives and environmental NGOs organized by OSCE Mission to Montenegro
A regional conference on the Aarhus Centres’ co-operation with public administration on national and local levels, organized by the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Montenegro’s Sustainable Development and Tourism Ministry and the NGO Ozon/Aarhus Centre Nikšić was held on 21 December 2016 in Podgorica.
Representatives of Aarhus Centres and environmental NGOs from Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia participated in the discussions
Ivana Vojinović, Director General of the Environment Directorate withinthe Sustainable Development and Tourism Ministry firmly reaffirmed the resolve of her institution to continue implementating the Aarhus Convention, and expressed gratitude for the OSCE’s support to the Ministry.
“The upcoming Meeting of Parties to the Aarhus Convention, main governing body of the Convention, that Montenegro will host next year, will be an opportunity for strengthening the environmental sector’s vivacity in the region.”
Lia Magnaguagno, OSCE Democratization Programme Manager, assured the participants that the Mission will continue to work with its main partners from both the public administration and the NGO sector. “We also look forward to supporting the Montenegro in hosting the 6th Meeting of Parties in 2017.”
Participants worked in two panel sessions and produced a joint statement, inviting decision-makers at all levels of public administration to make a better use of South East European Aarhus Centres.
