OSCE Mission to Montenegro supports women’s participation in public and political life
Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Ambassador Janina Hrebickova signed on 26 September 2014 a Memorandum of Understanding on further co-operation with the Gender Equality Department of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, and the Municipality of Rozaje to promote women’s participation in public and political life.
Suad Numanovic, Minister for Human and Minority Rights; Ejup Nurkovic, President of the Municipality of Rozaje, and Husein Kurtagic, President of the Municipal Assembly, were the other signatories of the document, which was signed in Podgorica.
“The OSCE Mission is a long-term partner of Montenegro on the demanding path towards gender equality and it has been active in this field from its very beginning, especially in strengthening gender principles and mechanisms at the local level,” said Ambassador Hrebickova.
Rozaje joins 14 Montenegrin municipalities that have already committed to close co-operation with the OSCE Mission and the Gender Equality Department of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.
“These agreements enable us and the Ministry to work in partnership with local governments in the area of economic empowerment, participation of women in public and political life, equal access to health services, as well as the creation and implementation of strategic documents,” said Ambassador Hrebickova.
