CHISINAU, 2 August 2012 - The OSCE Head of Mission, Ambassador Jennifer Brush, will open the 2012 Leadership Summer School in Vadul Lui Voda on Monday, 6 August.
The Leadership Summer School is organized by the OSCE in co-operation with the NGO Winrock Moldova, and is a unique meeting point for young women from both banks of the Dniester/Nistru River.
The Leadership Summer School focuses on empowering women and fostering people-to-people contacts. Fifty young women from both banks of the Dniester / Nistru aged 16-21 years participate, and will receive training and information to increase leadership and management skills, self-confidence and self-esteem, as well as learn how to detect and prevent risks of domestic violence and trafficking.
During the summer school, they will hear about educational and job opportunities, develop skills needed to enter the labour market, and learn the basics of starting up a business. Lecturers include high-profile Moldovan and international women in business, media, politics and diplomacy.
The Leadership Summer School was first established in 2008. Around 200 young women from both banks have since participated in its activities.
