On 28 March 2012 the OSCE Mission to Moldova hosted a meeting of the Moldovan and Transdniestrian chief political negotiators in the Transdniestrian settlement talks, Eugen Carpov and Nina Shtanski. The meeting focused on restoring connections between people living on both banks of the Dniestr/Nistru river, including resuming a full railway service through Transdniestria and reopening the Gura Bîcului bridge to vehicle traffic. Representatives of the relevant joint expert working groups and the mediators and observers in the negotiation process – the OSCE, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the US and the EU – also participated.
