OSCE Moldova Mission hosts press conference to launch campaign against gender violence

CHISINAU, 23 November 2007 - The OSCE Mission to Moldova is hosting a press conference on Monday to announce the launch of the annual "16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence" campaign.

This year's campaign has the theme "Demanding Implementation, Challenging Obstacles: End Violence Against Women".

The annual campaign will start on 25 November, the International Day Against Violence Against Women, and end on 10 December, International Human Rights Day. The events aim to demonstrate that violence against women is a violation of human rights. These campaigns have been held in Moldova since 2000.

This year's event will be jointly organized by Winrock International, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), International Organization for Migration, Independent Journalism Center, Center for Partnership in Development, Gender-Centru, UNFPA, the American Bar Association's Rule of Law Initiative, Amnesty International, Peace Corps - Moldova TIP, Casa Marioarei, and OWH TV Studio with financial support from the OSCE Mission to Moldova.

Journalists are invited to a news conference at 11:00 on Monday, 26 November, at the OSCE Mission to Moldova, str. Mitropolit Dosoftei 108, Chisinau.
