OSCE Mission to Montenegro
A key priority for the Mission in this area is to build the capacities of human rights institutions to help them protect those rights more efficiently. The Mission gives legal advice to strengthen legislation providing for tolerance and non-discrimination, and to ensure it is in line with international standards. It trains the staff of the country’s Ombudsman institution and helps develop national anti-torture legislation. To help Montenegro meet its commitments with regard to displaced persons, the Mission monitors and provides advice on the implementation of the Regional Housing Programme. It also assists with initiatives that confront discrimination against vulnerable groups by sharing best practices and by raising the awareness of state bodies.
