An advanced training course on drug trafficking investigation organized by the OSCE Mission concluded on 9 November 2012 at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety in Vushtrri/Vučitrn.

The course attended by 15 Kosovo police investigators focused on detection of trafficking routes, search of premises, identification of drug types and interviewing of suspects.

“Despite tangible results in combating drug trafficking such as increased seizures in 2011 and 2012, Kosovo remains a transit zone,” said Bahri Shala, head of the police directorate for combating drug trafficking. “New skills our investigators gained through the OSCE-provided training can improve their ability to track drug traffickers and prevent them from running their business.”

Participants were also trained on how to build a case file, including information gathering, analysis of intelligence and collection of evidence for submission to prosecutors.

The OSCE Mission in Kosovo is mandated with security and public safety sector development. It provides advanced police training and helps develop public safety strategies.
