OSCE Mission in Kosovo helps young people improve advocacy skills

PRISHTINË/PRIŠTINA, 28 August 2012 – The OSCE Mission in Kosovo will tomorrow host the finals of a competition in debating skills for members of Local Youth Action Councils from across Kosovo.

The event is continuation of municipal and regional debates, in which council representatives tested their abilities in advocating for their rights and for participation in decision-making.

The Mission has helped establish 32 local youth councils in Kosovo and now supports their members in developing the necessary skills to effectively represent youth interests at the municipal level. The debate competition serves as one method to help improve advocacy skills.

In tomorrow’s finals the Local Youth Action Councils will debate the issue of gender quotas in elected bodies and the civil service, presenting both pro and contra arguments.

Journalists are cordially invited to attend the competition on Wednesday, 29 August 2012, starting at 10:00 hrs at Hotel Sirius.
