PRISHTINE/PRISTINA, 25 November 2009 - The OSCE Mission in Kosovo will launch an anti-trafficking campaign at a news conference tomorrow.
The campaign, which is part of the international awareness-raising campaign "16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence", emphasizes that human trafficking is both a heinous crime and a violation of human rights. The campaign, which follows last year's "Rock to Break the Silence" initiative, calls for victims and witnesses to report human trafficking cases to police.
Human trafficking is a relatively new problem in Kosovo and awareness about the problem must be increased for the crime to be combated effectively.
The OSCE Head of Mission, Ambassador Werner Almhofer; Fatmir Xhelili, Deputy Interior Minister and Kosovo Anti-Trafficking Co-ordinator; Blerim Isufaj, Political Adviser to the Justice Minister, and Wolff-Michael Mors, the Deputy Director of OSCE Human Rights and Communities Department, will participate in the news conference.
Journalists are invited to take part in the news conference at 11:00 on Thursday, 26 November, at the OSCE Mission in Kosovo in Prishtine/Pristina.
