The Mission continues to be at the forefront of international electoral assistance in Kosovo. From 2000 to 2008, the Mission supported and helped organize all elections held in Kosovo; four on the local and three on the central level. Since 2008, the local electoral institutions have been carrying out executive functions in this respect, with the OSCE retaining a non-executive advisory role.

The Mission continues to provide substantial assistance and capacity building support to the Central Election Commission and the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel. Having established a working group on electoral reform, the Mission also provides technical assistance to improve the legislative and administrative frameworks for the elections.

By working closely with local partners, the Mission provides expertise and guidance needed to support the common goal of achieving technically successful election projects, fully undertaken by local election management bodies.

The Mission also provides co-ordination, advice and support to other electoral stakeholders, thereby helping ensure effective partnerships, and donor and resource mobilisation services.
