LUND, Sweden, 14 May 2009 - A seminar that focuses on how societies can encourage minorities to participate in public life, organized by the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Knut Vollebaek, and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, will be held next week in Lund, southern Sweden.

The 18-19 May seminar marks that 10 years have passed since the Lund Recommendations on the Effective Participation of National Minorities in Public Life were adopted. The recommendations aim to encourage states to adopt measures to alleviate tensions related to national minorities.

The seminar is open to journalists. Journalists interested in interviewing High Commissioner Vollebaek during the seminar should contact his personal adviser, Geir Sjoeberg.
