FSC Representative to brief journalists on small arms, light weapons and conventional ammunition

MADRID, 28 November 2007 - The Representative of the Chairperson of the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation (FSC) will brief journalists on Small Arms, Light Weapons and Conventional Ammunition, on Thursday 29 November at the 15th OSCE Ministerial Council in Madrid.

Results from 2007 and an important announcement relating to the neutralization of 16,000 tonnes of toxic rocket fuel component mélange in Ukraine will be presented at the briefing, organized by the Danish FSC Chairmanship.

Since 2003, the FSC has been assisting participating States in tackling problems associated with Small Arms, Light Weapons and Conventional Ammunition, including mélange. The FSC meets weekly in Vienna to discuss arms control, military confidence-building measures and disarmament.

Journalists accredited to the OSCE Ministerial Council are invited to attend the briefing, set to start at 11.00 on Thursday, 29 November, in the side events room.
