Forum for Security Co-operation

Special events

Apart from weekly plenary and working group meetings covering ongoing issues, the Forum for Security Co-operation (FSC) also organizes regular events related to the politico-military area.

Annual Implementation Assessment Meeting

The meeting is held annually in Vienna to review the implementation of the Vienna Document 1999 and other politico-military commitments of the participating States.

Military doctrine

The Forum holds regular conferences on military doctrine and defence planning to assess new threats to security and stability. To date, the FSC has held five seminars on military doctrine (1990, 1991, 1998, 2001 and 2006).

Code of Conduct

The Forum also holds periodic review conferences on the Code of Conduct, the most recent of which took place in September 2002.

Small arms and light weapons

In February 2002, the Forum convened the first small arms and light weapons (SALW) workshop, which reviewed the implementation of the OSCE Document on SALW. The workshop provided a set of recommendations for the way forward.

Conventional ammunition

In 2003, the Forum developed and adopted the Document on Stockpiles of Conventional Ammunition (SCA), which includes a mechanism for providing assistance to participating States. As a result of four requests, the Forum convened a Special FSC Session on this topic to discuss the way forward with projects in this area.
