OSCE media freedom representative to speak at European Parliament committee hearing on Hungary

BRUSSELS, 8 February 2012 – The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Dunja Mijatović, will appear before the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs of the European Parliament in Brussels on Thursday, 9 February, to speak about the media situation in Hungary.

The Committee will hear from European and international institutions and civil society on the recent political developments in Hungary.

Interpretation in most official EU languages, including Hungarian, will be provided.

The hearing starts at 14:00 at the European Parliament, 60 rue Wiertz, Brussels, in the Paul-Henri Spaak Building, Room 1A 002. It will be webcast live at: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/eplive/public/default_en.htm

The Representative also will meet with Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission, on 10 February.
