The Third South East Europe Media Conference

When: 18 September 2013 - 20 September 2013

Where: Tirana, Albania

Organized by: The Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, the OSCE Presence in Albania

The Office of the Representative on Freedom of the Media, together with the OSCE Presence in Albania, will hold the third OSCE South East Europe Media Conference (SEEMC) in Tirana, Albania, on 18-20 September 2013.

The SEEMC is an annual event held in rotating venues across South-Easten Europe that has been widely covered and positively acknowledged among international media-freedom advocates, OSCE delegations, as well as other international organizations.

The conference will address today’s most crucial media-freedom issues in the region. Among other sessions, the agenda will primarily cover aspects of legislation, regulation, public service broadcasting, online media, and safety of journalists.

As part of the conference, Albany Associates will hold an exclusive master class (invitation only) on the very pertinent issue of the digital switchover that almost all countries in South-Easten Europe are currently confronted with. This master class will be attended by representatives of the regulatory authorities from South Eastern Europe in order to provide them with comprehensive knowledge of issues related to the switchover, and ensure that the digitalization process guarantees increased opportunities for the free flow of information and a pluralist media environment.

More information on logistics and the agenda will be available online shortly here.
