How to apply

The OSCE is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to achieving gender balance within the organization. Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply for senior management positions.  

In order to apply for a position within the OSCE you must complete the relevant application form, which will only be accepted in English. Applications received after the published deadline will not be considered.  Applicants are encouraged to use the online recruitment and only fully completed OSCE applications will be accepted.

Please be advised that if your current or previous experience is with the United Nations or other international organizations using a similar post grading system, the grade/step should be added to the "Exact Job Title" in the "Employment History" section of the application form.

Contracted positions

We strongly encourage applicants for contracted positions to use the online application system provided. However, if you have difficulties with the system you may use the offline application form and forward the completed form quoting the vacancy number by e-mail:

Applications from internal candidates will only be accepted online.

Recruitment

The Recruitment Section of the Department for Human Resources, together with the hiring department, reviews all applications received by the published deadline and draws up a short list of four to five qualified candidates to be invited for an interview. Applicants will be contacted only if considered for interview.

Selection

The selection is made after an interview.  In addition, for a number of positions there is a test with questions specific to the position. Candidates interviewed will normally be advised of the outcome of the selection process after a period of three weeks.

Upon completion of the recruitment process all online applicants will be informed of the outcome.

Seconded positions

To apply for a seconded position, click on the Apply Online link, select your respective participating State and follow the application method shown. If your participating State is using the online application form, this form will be directed electronically to your respective Ministry of Foreign Affairs and/or OSCE Delegation. If your participating State is not using the online method, you will be requested to contact your OSCE Delegation.

The screening and nomination process takes place in the respective countries. OSCE participating States are responsible for the compensation/benefit packages of seconded staff, therefore please direct all related enquiries to the designated contact point. The OSCE pays living expenses in the form of a board and lodging allowance for positions located in field duty stations. However, for secondments to the Secretariat and the Institutions, all costs are borne by the nominating authority.

Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme

Vacancy notices are posted on the OSCE website approximately 3-4 months prior to commencement and contain all relevant details.

Applicants to the JPO programme should be under 30 years of age, and must be graduates of an accredited university in fields of study relevant to the OSCE’s mandate and fields of work.

Internships

To apply for an internship in the OSCE please use the online application form and attach a short essay explaining your motivation. Vacancy notices are posted on the OSCE website and contain all relevant details.

We strongly encourage applicants for internships to use the online application form provided. If you wish to submit an offline application please forward it to the address as indicated in the vacancy notice.

Applicants for internship should be under 30 years of age and students in their final year of higher education (university or other accredited institution) at graduate or postgraduate level; or recent graduates or postgraduates, i.e. within one year of graduation

If you have extensive experience in one of the fields of expertise listed below  and would like to be considered for our roster of consultants, please complete the off-line application form and send it to recruitment@osce.org   When applying, please indicate that you would like to be included in the "OSCE Consultants" roster ” and indicate your field of expertise.
