Joint OSCE/UN-OHRLLS expert workshop on transit and transportation problems of landlocked countries

Date:
12 December 2006–13 December 2006
Location:
Hofburg Conference Centre, Vienna
Organized by:
The OSCE and the UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS)
Description:
A follow-up event to the 14th OSCE Economic Forum, the workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss topics related to transit and transportation in landlocked developing countries and help to identify the OSCE's role in this area.

The meeting will bring together transit transport experts from a number of major international, regional and sub-regional organizations to discuss how to promote and monitor the progress made in establishing efficient transit transport systems worldwide. The areas where work is still needed as well as the most useful indicators will be selected.

Participants will also focus on the transit transport situation in Central Asia, aiming to identify the most relevant issues and define future activities in that region, where the OSCE can contribute.

Special reference will be made to the Almaty Programme of Action (APA) as a useful tool to improve the transit and transport situation in OSCE landlocked countries. More information on APA can be found through the link on the right.
