Transport and security
The OSCE has organized a number of events relating to transport security. In October 2006 in Antwerp, Belgium, the OSCE together with the relevant department of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Centre / APEC organized a workshop on security in ports. It aimed at raising awareness on the ILO / International Maritime Organization Code of Practice on Security in Ports.
The need for transport routes that take into account the environment and security was the focus of another OSCE-supported workshop in Tonsberg, Norway in October 2006. Participants from OSCE participating States around the Black Sea, Caspian Sea and Arctic regions exchanged views and shared experience as well as expertise to find ways to reduce the potential environmental and security-related risks of transport.
