Secretariat - Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities

The Office of the Co-ordinator, in close co-operation with the Economic and Environmental Officers in the field, assists participating States in implementing their commitments in OSCE's Economic and Environmental Dimension and identifies economic and environmental threats and challenges to security.

Aiming at facilitating the process of transition from command to market economies and counter-acting economic and environmental threats to security, the Office of the Co-ordinator provides advice and carries out catalytic activities in order to

• Promote the principles of the market economy;
• Facilitate economic co-operation;
• Catalyse economic growth in undeveloped areas;
• Economically empower vulnerable groups;
• Strengthen good governance;
• Ensure sustainable development;
• Protect the environment;
• Use the environment as a vehicle to foster co-operation among States.

In addition to these activities, the Office of the Co-ordinator organizes the annual OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum which targets major issues of economic and environmental concern.
