What is trafficking for the purpose of domestic servitude? The overall aim of the 10th Alliance against Trafficking in Persons conference is to make visible a hidden form of labour exploitation. The conference is entitled Unprotected Work, Invisible Exploitation: Trafficking for the Purpose of Domestic Servitude, and will take place in Vienna on 17-18 June 2010.
The conference will explore the specific features of human trafficking for the purpose of domestic servitude. Such features include:
- the challenges involved in identifying this particularly invisible form of exploitation;
- the gender, child and migration dimensions of the phenomenon;
- the importance of prevention measures;
- the challenges of victim assistance and access to justice; and
- the challenges of investigation and prosecution of offenders.
The conference will provide an excellent forum to gather expertise, exchange good practices and develop recommendations on what can be done to tackle the issue of human trafficking for domestic servitude.
