Experts, OSCE officials to discuss reconciliation in Vienna tomorrow

VIENNA, 17 December 2012 – A workshop  on reconciliation in the OSCE area will take place in Vienna on Tuesday.

Experts, researchers, OSCE delegations and representatives from the OSCE as well as other international organizations will discuss best practices in and challenges to reconciliation processes, drawing from past and present experiences.

The event is a follow up to the OSCE “Security Days” event held in June, where participants identified reconciliation as an essential building block for a security community and a key element of any durable peace.

The event will be opened by OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier.

Keynote addresses will be given by:

  • Adam Daniel Rotfeld, Polish Co-Chair of the Polish-Russian Group on Difficult Matters, Chair of the EASI sub-group on historical reconciliation;
  • Anatoly Torkunov, Russian Co-Chair of the Polish-Russian Group on Difficult Matters, Rector of Moscow State Institute of International Relations; and
  • Henri Menudier, Professor for Political Science and German Studies, University Paris III – Sorbonne

Journalists are invited to the event, which starts at 09.00 in the Hofburg Congress Centre's Neuer Saal.
