Secretariat - Conflict Prevention Centre

24/7 Operational response capacity

Situation/Communications Room

The Situation/Communications Room (Sitroom) provides a 24-hour service, seven days a week to the Organization. The team of duty officers monitors events in the OSCE area around-the-clock and provides real-time reporting to senior management, thereby performing an early warning function.

During times of crisis, the Sitroom acts as the focal point of contact for the receipt, exchange and dissemination of crucial information in a timely manner; thus underscoring its role as a vital link in the security chain between the Secretariat and the field operations, which is especially important outside of working hours.

Furthermore, the Sitroom provides 24-hour assistance to all the field operations with regard to the co-ordination of medical evacuations. The Sitroom prepares daily (morning and afternoon) and weekly news briefs, as well as special briefs as necessary. The Sitroom co-operates with other international organizations by promoting the daily exchange of information.

The Sitroom, together with the Planning and Analysis Team, is part of the Operations Service within the Conflict Prevention Centre.
