Lithuania inaugurated its Chairmanship of the OSCE with a concert of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra in Vienna on the eve of the first session of the OSCE Permanent Council in 2011.

The winners of a nationwide essay contest for teenagers in Kazakhstan were announced at a ceremony held in Astana ahead of the 2010 Summit. The essays, addressed to OSCE leaders, urged the OSCE to focus on the promotion of peace, tolerance, economic co-operation and environmental issues.
